The fourth edition of the Megève - Edmond de Rothschild International Show Jumping Competition will take place from 15 to 20 July 2014 on the esplanade of the famous resort’s Palais des Sports.
More than thirty classes
Competitors make a special effort to keep their agendas free for this internationally renowned show organised by the Megève en Selle association, boasting over thirty classes for both professionals and amateurs. This unique event, held in the Alps, attracts the discipline’s best French and foreign riders with its one-star CSI (Concours de Saut d’Obstacles International) and, in particular, its three-star CSI where four classes count towards the world show jumping rankings.
Laura Kraut, Jessica Kürten, Natale Chiaudani, Simon Delestre, Reynald Angot, Edouard Couperie, and Philippe Rozier have all competed in Mégeve as has Michel Robert, who won the Megève-Edmond de Rothschild Grand Prix (CSI***) in 2013 before retiring.
Alongside these prestigious riders, amateur riders will also have pride of place in Megève. Ten classes, including the Club 2 Vitesse (95 cm) and the Grand Prix Amateur 1 (120 cm), will be devoted to them during the first two days of the competition on 15 and 16 July. This is a unique opportunity for amateur riders to discover the charm of Megève in the summer and, more importantly, an exceptional competition venue.
The CWD Top 15 Circuit
The Megève - Edmond de Rothschild International Show Jumping Competition will also be hosting the second leg of the CWD Top 15. This circuit, which is open to professional riders from the Rhônes-Alpes and Bourgogne regions, has three legs including two qualifiers held at the CSI in Bourg-en-Bresse and the CSI in Megève. At the end of these two rounds, the fifteen best riders will go on to compete in the final at the CSI in Mâcon. The CWD Top 15 is a Pro 2 (1m35) level competition and is intended to allow professional riders to participate in the best shows.
Free entry to a number of festive events
And spectators will not be forgotten this year! In order to attract more than the twenty-five thousand spectators who came to the event last year, the Megève en Selle team has worked to offer an increasingly rich and varied programme of activities. Free festive events will therefore be organised all weekend long: an evening event around the ring with concerts, a giant cocktail party in the heart of the resort, and, in particular, several performances of the "Horsemen" show which was very popular during the first edition of the competition. The exciting six-bar class will also be held on Saturday 19 July for three-star CSI riders.
