Having previously occupied the position of sporting manager at the Geneva Golf Club for four years, this winter, Matthieu Azzolin took over the reins of managing the Mont d’Arbois Golf Club, working alongside, Philippe Pichlak, Managing Director of the Domaine du Mont d’Arbois.
For this native of Mégeve and former member of the French mogul ski team, « this is a real homecoming! » At 35 years of age, Matthieu Azzolin felt like « laying down his hat and this management position seemed like the perfect continuation to his career. » What’s more, he is really familiar with the greens of the Mont d’Arbois because it is where he learnt to play.
« Bringing a sporting dimension to the club»
Matthieu Azzolin has many targets in mind for the Club. He intends to add a « a sporting aspect » by offering regular ranking competitions for example, making up teams for inter-club events or encouraging youngsters from the golf club to compete in competitions by creating teams. And why not host a Grand Prix in years to come?
He has added a real wish to keep golf going all year round…25th January saw the introduction of a permanent 6-hole course on the (with 9 holes planned for next season) and artificial greens specially made for the occasion by the club’s greenkeeper, Steve Muller.
A veritable challenge is on the cards for Matthieu Azzolin, who will no doubt rise to it !
